Flooded with texture, nature, and a team who cares, Moss Denver is home to a venue that seeks to push the limits of design and service and is conveniently located just 10 minutes south of Denver. Local owner, Jordan Johnson, created a venue that is a blank canvas on which to design any vision for an event. We sat down with Alia, the venue manager, to learn more about how Moss started and how it has grown over the years.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

While planning his wedding, Jordan Johnson was inspired when he realized there was a gap in the venue industry. Most venues near Denver were for guest counts up to 150 or over 400, so he had an idea to fill that gap by creating a stylish venue that would allow for 200 guests.

MOSS COMING TO LIFE

Jordan created Moss by hand; from the iconic moss wall, to the grid ceiling, to the famous waterfall bar. Jordan’s background in woodworking, welding, and metalworking helped him curate a space that is ever-changing and dynamic. Jordan’s vision was to create a venue that would allow guests to host an event without adding any decorations as well as events that can completely transform the space depending on the client’s preference.

Moss has a small local team that pours their love into the venue just like its owner. Michelle, the Venue Director, works in tandem with Alia, to create the high-end experience Moss delivers to every client. Oftentimes if you are visiting for a tour or planning a wedding you’ll be working directly with Alia to ensure a seamless event. Michelle is hard at work behind the scenes managing vendor relationships, planning in-house events like the Happiest Hour for clients, and much more.

Alia said her most memorable Moss moment was “Seeing the ceiling installed for the first time. In the Chandelier room you can hang anywhere, and to see the whole ceiling filled with flowers, draping, and lighting was magical.”

THE MOSS EXPERIENCE 

Moss has been a staple for over 10 years now when it comes to Denver event venues. The close-knit Moss team knows each client is different and deserves a venue that can offer them the freedom to bring their vision to life while also offering support and guidance to assist in creating the best experience possible. When asked about Alia’s favorite part about working at Moss she said:

“That’s easy, the clients, and seeing them excited! I know we are successful when clients say things like ‘I wish I could live here.’ We all have a deep connection to the space and love being able to share that with our clients”
